Moorings Pool Rules, 2011

1. All persons using the pool shall do so at their own risk. They shall be solely responsible for any accident or injury in connection with such use. The pool will be open from May 27th through September 5th, weather permitting. On any given day, the pool may be closed early due to poor weather conditions. These conditions include lightning, for which there will be a one-hour break from the last occurrence and thunder, for which there will be one half-hour break from the last occurrence. On days of inclement weather, the weather will be monitored hourly to determine if the pool will open for the day. If poor weather conditions still exist at 9:00 pm, the pool shall be closed for the remainder of that day.

2. Each resident must present the family key fob to the Moorings Lifeguard attendant. Contact the Moorings Board if a replacement is needed.

3. Homeowners of the Moorings who have paid their annual dues in full are eligible to use the pool. A Homeowner may bring up to 10 Guests. Children of homeowners may bring a maximum of 2 guests.

4. Trained lifeguard personnel have been retained for your swimming safety. Guards and board members are responsible for strict enforcement of the rules and regulations contained herein. They shall have the authority to temporarily deprive any resident member or guest of the rights and privileges of pool use. The decisions of the lifeguards and board members are final.

5. In accordance with state mandates, children 13 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older, who must remain with them during their entire stay at the pool. The lifeguards are not babysitters. Under age children not accompanied by an adult will be required to leave the pool area.

6. Children who are 14-18 years of age may be asked to pass a deep-water proficiency test. After passing the test the child will be permitted to swim at the pool without an adult. The lifeguard has the authority to decide if the child passes or not. If the child does not pass, he/she may test again throughout the season if they choose.

7. All swimmers must wear appropriate swimwear. Street clothes and cut offs will not be permitted.

8. Infants and toddlers who wear diapers, must wear “swim diapers” while in the pools. Disposable diapers will not be allowed. Keep in mind, that if an accident occurs in the pool, state law requires the pool to close for 16 hours to clean bacteria from the water.

13. No one is allowed to hang on the rope dividing the deep end from the shallow end, except in an emergency situation.

14. Hourly breaks will be given so that the lifeguards may cool off, the adults may swim, and the children may rest. All swimmers under 18 years of age will remain out of the pool for a period of 15 minutes. These breaks will occur every hour on the hour. During these breaks, children will not be allowed closer than 2 feet from the edge of the pool.

15. No pets allowed in the pool area.

16. Beach towels should be used to cover the chairs and chaise lounges when wearing tanning oils and lotions which can cause discoloration.
